Wellness Grain Free Pumpkin Dog Treats Here for Halloween!

It’s October, the month of Halloween and mischief, ghouls, and goblins! Maui loves Halloween because she gets to wear her special red wings and she loves that everyone makes special Halloween treats just for her! I haven’t wanted to tell her companies do not make these delicious treats just for her (she would be pretty pouty). But, lucky for you and your pup these spooky good Halloween dog treats are available to everyone!

Maui Golden retrieverWellness grain free dog treats magically change before Halloween into some of the best pumpkin dog treats ever! The Wellness Crunchy WellBars make an eerie transformation into crunchy little dog treats in spooooky Halloween shapes! Maui is curious how that happens!

Wellness Crunchy WellBars

Here is another super fun Halloween dog treat for you to check out! During “those other” regular times of the year Wellness makes five drool-worthy flavors of crunchy WellBars but during the Halloween time of year, they also make a special pumpkin recipe WellBar! Their awesome flavor recipes are:

  • Pumpkin (special Halloween flavor)
  • Chicken & cheddar
  • Lamb & apples
  • Yogurt, apples & bananas
  • Peanut & honey
  • Whitefish & sweet potato

Those flavor combinations sound absolutely delicious! I mean so much so that I would want to make a meal or treat for myself out of those flavors (not the treats, the real foods for this human)!

Frightfully Good Ingredients

What is nice about Wellness is that ingredients in their treats and foods are normal everyday ingredients. Their treats and foods contain nothing weird that you can’t pronounce or spell, just good natural foods that you might have in your own home (barring the mixed tocopherols that are used as a preservative).

Wellness puts a lot of thought into the foods that go into their recipes as well as the foods that stay out. If you are curious as to the purpose of a specific ingredient you can refer to their ‘Quality Ingredients’ glossary found on their website. It’s refreshing to understand the reasoning behind including specific ingredients in your dog’s treats and food.

Calories and Nutrition

Now that you know about the nutritious ingredients Wellness strives to include in every one of their products as well as the good that they strive to do for our communities, here are some more details about the Wellness grain free pumpkin dog treats!

Wellness pumpkin wellbars nutrients caloriesEach crunchy pumpkin recipe WellBars treat has 16 calories each.

Not a lot of protein in these treats but they are just treats and your dog will have a minimal number of these per day so protein content isn’t as critical like it is in your dog’s regular mealtime food.

Nice amount of vitamin E and vitamin A in these treats. Vitamin E is good for your dog’s muscles and circulatory system and vitamin A is good for your dog’s immune system, vision, and reproductive systems.

Size, Appearance, and Texture

Pumpkin WellBars come with four spine-chilling Halloween shapes in each bag, ghosts, pumpkins, bats, and skulls! Don’t worry; they are not scary enough to keep your dog from gobbling them down!

There is a little variety to the sizes but in general, they range somewhere around the size of a quarter.

These treats are super crunchy so be sure your dog has the chompers to be able to eat them. You can always break them into smaller pieces, but since they are so crunchy I would not advise them for dogs with few teeth or dental issues.

Funny thing. We have a trick or treat party at our office, and we have a lot of dogs that roam around. I’m so going to pick these up, it’s perfect. And for the house when people and their dogs come around.

    • Lynne says:

Hi, That sounds like an awesome thing to do! The dogs will be totally excited! Maui really loved them! I can’t believe she snuck in and ate the little pile of them I had set up for my photo shoot. She’s pretty sure all your coworkers’, family, and friends’ dogs will truly enjoy them.

  • Courtney says:

These look fabulous! I love the ingredients list and the fact that I can pronounce it all! Reading the Cons list, I do wonder if they’ll cause gas for my pup – he can have a sensitive tummy sometimes. But I’m always on the look out for healthier dog food and treats for him. Think it’s worth a shot! Thanks so much for sharing!!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Courtney, You never know what a certain food will do to your dog. It was just one reviewer that said it made her dog a little gassy, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Wellness is a really great company and if for any reason you are unsatisfied with the product they will take it back. The back of the bag says if you or your dog are unsatisfied with the product just bring the unused portion and receipt back to the place of purchase for a full refund. 🙂

  • Dave says:

This is so cool! I did not know they made pumpkin spice dog treats. I need to get these right now because in my family we are pumpkin spice fiends!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Dave! Your post made me smile 🙂 pumpkins buy stuff really is one of those flavors that just makes you feel warm and cozy and happy. I hope your pup is as excited about pumpkin as you are 🙂

  • Alex says:

It is good to know that the reviews for these dog treats are so good. I do not want to feed my dog anything bad. That is just no good for her. She deserves the best for her health and because she is such a good dog.

I do have a question though. For a 50 lbs dog, how many treats would you recommend that I feed my German Shepherd? I want her to eat well, but not over stuff her. She cannot get too fat. That would just be no good. I look forward to reading your answer.

Thank you so much and I hope you make it a great day!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Alex, Treats are meant to be just as a supplement so I wouldn’t suggest too many. On days that Maui gets more than just a couple treats I actually decrease the amount of regular food she gets to accommodate for the extra calories. So, I know her veterinarian said she should get about 850 calories per day. I figured out how many calories she is getting from her regular food. If for some reason I were to feed her 10 of these treats a day that would be an extra 160 calories. I would try approximate about how much of her regular food I would need to not give her in order to accommodate for the extra calories she got from those treats. Hope that makes sense and I hope it helps!

  • Kit says:

My dog is the fussy type. There are many dog food bought from the store, he wont bother eating. I have tried prepared nicely in a beautiful bowl, he don’t want it either. Last week, I tried the Chicken & cheddar. This is his new favorite now! Since I know now he loves it, I bought a dozen of these.

    • Lynne says:

Hi Kit, That is so funny that you bought a dozen of those bags of treats 🙂 The nice thing with Wellness is if you or your dog don’t like them you can return the unused portion to worry about them for a full refund.

  • Ralph says:

One of the things I like most about wellness other than all the variety that is offered to treat our furry best friends, is the recycled packaging. Being environment friendly while providing our pets with great nutrition is a big plus for me. The causing gas part is a little concern for me, but it doesn’t look to be that big of an issue. Thanks for sharing this!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Ralph, I love that Wellness does the recycling with their packaging as well! When you have a large dog those dog food bags are a lot of trash and it’s nice to know that with Wellness you can bring the bags somewhere and they will get recycled. It was only one reviewer that said the treats gave their dog gas, and to be honest it doesn’t take much to give my dog Maui gas 🙂 Give them a try and if you don’t like them Wellness offers a money back guarantee!

  • Huy says:

I saw these dog treats in an ad of some sort the other day and Inwas curious about them and ran across your article. Everything sounds great about it however my dog for some reason doesn’t like anything that has too much crunch in it and I noticed these were extra crunchy, are there any other themed treats like this that is not as crunchy?

    • Lynne says:

Hi Huy, thanks for stopping by! I haven’t done posts on any Halloween dog treats that are chewy but I did find that  Zuke’s many naturals ghosts turkey and pumpkin dog treats are chewy rather than crunchy. You can probably find them online at PetSmart Chewy.com. Happy Halloween!
