The Best Holiday Gifts for Dog Owners and Their Dog

The gift giving season is upon us and we cannot forget our four-legged, furry family members! In our home each human and each animal has their own stocking hanging from the fireplace mantle. Seeing as we now have four cats, two dogs, and three of us humans, the fireplace mantle is pretty crowded!

I always love getting gifts for our pets! I believe they truly enjoy getting them as well!

There are a bajillion different dog toys, gadgets, and treats out there to choose from when looking for something to give your very special pupper for Christmas. That is why Maui, Emma, and I sat down and put together this list of some of our favorite gifts to give your (or a friends) dog this pawliday!

Here are 10 toys and treats sure to get tails wagging!

Don't forget to make it down to number 10; I think it's the cutest one of all!

Rope Toys for Aggressive Chewers

Maui absolutely loves the rope toys she has! She saw these and wants them so bad (okay, maybe she didn’t see them but I know she would love them ... I might need to get them for her stocking!)

xl rope toys for aggressive chewers
xl rope toys

These rope toys are XL and come in a package of three with a bonus ball! These toys can be used for fetching, tug-of-war, chewing, retrieving, catching, and shaking. They are certainly not completely indestructible but are designed with aggressive chewers in mind!

There ropes are a really nice long size as well! One Amazon reviewer indicates the ropes range from 1 ½ feet to 2 feet long!

What’s also great about purchasing these particular rope toys is that each purchase helps support Pacific Pups Rescue, a nonprofit dog rescue located in Southern California! What better way to celebrate the holiday than getting your dog some super durable fun new rope toys and help feed and shelter dogs in need!

Chuckit! Dog Ball Launcher

If you’re not sure what to get a family or friend’s dog for Christmas, this one is a sure bet!

If you don’t have one for your own dog yet the two of you are missing out on some incredibly fun human, dog, ball bonding time!

Want to give your dog a little treat? Fill the device with your dog’s favorite goodies and toss little treats by using the Furbo app! If you will be busy and unable to tune-in to toss your dog treats, you can program it into the app and Furbo will toss your dog a treat at the scheduled time.

Kong Low Stuffing Squeaker Dog Toys

The famous Kong brand makes squeaky toys for dogs with minimal stuffing! This means if your dog likes to de-stuff plush toys like our Emma does, there won’t be much for them to pull out of these!

Chewy.com has several super cute Kong plush, tug, and/or tough toys to choose from ranging in size from extra small to large so you’re sure to find something to fit the pupper in your family!

You can visit Chewy.com to see their great selection by clicking on any one of the super cute plush toys!

Prices start at $1.99

Cozie Marvin moose
Dynos T-rex

Some of these toys have a removable squeaker! That means if you’d like to actually hear the TV show you’re watching while your dog plays, you can take the squeaker out then put it back at a later time.

Some come with two squeakers for twice the squeaky fun!

Squeakers in many of the Kong toys are replaceable, which is a great plus - I know squeakers get broken or punctured a lot around our house!

These Kong toys are also available on Amazon.com but in general I found Amazon's prices to be higher on these items than they are on Chewy.com. If you'd like to see what Amazon has to offer for Kong plush dog toys click HERE!

Toy Multi-packs

Adopting a new puppy or dog for the holidays? Need to stock up on a lot of toys really easily or want to give a nice gift pack to a new puppy parent?

Here are a couple highly rated toys multi-packs that are sure to be a ton of fun!

12 or 5 Toy Pack for Puppies and Small Dogs

The 12 pack include multiple chew toys, squeaky toys, a flying disc, a treat ball, and rope toys!

The 5 pack includes three rope toys, a rope ball, and a flying disc!

These two multi-toy packs are designed for puppies, small dogs, or maybe even medium dogs.

It’s difficult to find quality toys especially when shopping on the Internet. You never know really what you’re going to get. I like to read reviews when I’m purchasing online and these two packs have high customer ratings and satisfaction. A definite plus when you're shopping!

The plush toys are super cute but do not indicate their durability. I would definitely stick to small dogs and puppies for this multi-pack. Love the rope carrot and the rope teddy bear!

Rope toys are great for teething puppies and for keeping teeth clean and gums healthy!

This is a nice little multi-pack of toys! I think if you were to go to a pet store and buy all of these individually the price tag would likely be much higher than this pack so it definitely seems like a good deal to me!

Holiday Freshmint Greenies Dental Chews

Greenies are an incredibly popular dog treat and for good reason! Greenies are fantastic at cleaning your dog’s teeth and this holiday freshmint flavor will help them have even fresher breath!

Greenies are low-fat, made with natural ingredients including added minerals, vitamins, and nutrients and are easy to digest.

The freshmint Greenies are made with dried spearmint - ahhhh fresh!

Maui and I did a review of the pumpkin spice flavored Greenies - both Maui and Emma go bonkers for them! I suspect that the fresh mint flavor will be no different. I’m going to grab a bag of these for  a stocking stuffer!

Freshmint is seasonal so there are only 20 reviews for this flavor but they have 5 out of 5 stars!

There are several other Greenie flavors if the fresh mint doesn’t interest you or think your dog will not like it. If you’d like to check out the other flavors you can click on the red button!

Hide-A-Squirrel Puzzle Plush Squeaking Toys

I just couldn’t resist this one because it’s so darn cute ... and has such unbelievable reviews!

Little squeaking plush squirrels hide inside a plush tree trunk.

Place the trunk on the floor and watch your dog search, sniff, and hunt out the little squirrels.

Perfect for the hide-and-squeak game or playing fetch with just the squirrels.

This is a great post, thank you. It’s funny how we insist on getting our pets Christmas presents even though it’s just another day for them 😀

I have a black Labrador and she loves to play, but if we get her anything which is relatively chewable, its gone in seconds. So definitely those chew toys for aggressive chewers would be great for mine!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Joe, True about the Christmas presents! I guess we just want them to share in the excitement 🙂 Give those toys for aggressive chewers a try! Let us know how good they are! I hate to recommend things that end up not being so great so we always love to hear your opinions!

  • Vanna Pearl says:

    Hi Lynne,

I appreciate this information about gifts for the dogs. It comes at a really good time for me because I’m searching for a Christmas gift for my daughter and son-in-law’s little doggie. I life all of the gifts but I believe the multi-pack solves the issue for me.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this information.

Hi Vanna, I’m glad our giftgiving guide could help you out 🙂 It would help fund Maui’s treats diction if you could use a link within our post. We would be eternally grateful! Please let us know if you try out one of the multipacks, they are always excited to know about other people’s experiences with the items we talk about 🙂

  • Laura says:

I need to get that ball launcher! My boyfriend is always laughing at me because I can’t throw a good ball… This item is gonna be my secret weapon next time we’re with our dog in the field… 🙂

We already have the dog camera and feeder, which works great btw!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Laura, The Chuckit is really a great ball launcher! You can really throw that thing a long ways! You will definitely have the upper hand with this 🙂

Hi Vanna, The multipack dog toys are great! Get a lot of different toys all in one package without having to shop for them individually! I think this brings down the overall price a lot as well. Please let us know what your daughter’s dog thinks of the toys! If you wouldn’t mind using our link, it would help support Maui’s treat habit! 🙂 Thanks much.

  • Sondra M says:

Lynn, I am so glad that I followed your advise and stayed with your post all the way to the end, if though I thought that I found the perfect gift for Francesco, my toy poodle, when I saw the Kong Squeaker dog toys.   The squirrel collection would look cute in my living room even if Francesco didn’t want to play with them.

But, I still have a problem.   My other dog Grace, is a Great Pyrenees.  (So I love the picture that started out this post.)   She is a lovable working dog that stays outside.  She isn’t into balls and chew toys.    Her favorite things in life are belly rubs.   Do you have a gift suggestion that would work for her?

    • Lynne says:

Hi Sondra, I’m so glad that you read our post all the way to the end! I’m still waiting to receive the squirrel toys for Maui and can’t wait to give it to her for Christmas! You didn’t give too many details about Grace but since she stays outside maybe a nice cuddly blanket or something cozy and comforting for her. Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you come back again 🙂

  • Dale says:

This is a great article that offers some great gifts for our puppies.  We dont have a pooch anymore since our chocolate lab passed away however stuff like this about dogs still brings great interest to me as we may get another dog in the future.

Our dog used to love the rope toys but really really loved the raw hide toys even though he would go through them very fast.

Once again thank you for providing this great info.

    Dale

    • Lynne says:

Hi Dale, so sorry to hear about your puppy passing away. I’m glad you enjoyed the article and if you know anyone that has a dog please pass along 😉 much appreciated!

  • Lok Which says:

Giving my smart some special treats often has now been my tradition since I discovered he wants to chew anything that comes across his eyes. Now I develop a reward system for him, such that for any task he completes is what he gets treat for. I recently bought a pounce N ball for him to chew. It’s really fun and making him a better companioin

    • Lynne says:

Hi, Sounds like a great system 🙂 A good way to get him to behave and he gets some goodies in the process! Thanks for stopping by again and hope you come back soon.

  • Ruya says:

These are by far the best and cutest holiday gifts for dogs! My dogs loved playing with rope toys and squeaky toys. I would probably go for the furbo dog camera if I still had my dogs as it is my favorite of all gifts. I wish I had one back in the days, I’m sure my dogs and I could have had a lot of fun! I also would have bought the Zuke’s mini naturals, they always love treats with different flavors.

    • Lynne says:

Hi Ruya, I’m glad you enjoyed our list! Isn’t the Furbo awesome! If Maui and I worked together all the time I would definitely be investing in that! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Dianne says:

Christmas stocking for the pets what a cute idea, we would have four for our two cats one dog and a cockatiel. Loving the the number toy, I reckon the cats and dog would enjoy playing with those squeaky squirrels. I do recommend the rope you our dog loves her it’s a great purchase.

    • Lynne says:

Hi Dianne, It’s a lot of stockings on our mantle but I like it 🙂 I bet you’re right-that the cats would love to play inside and hide inside the trunk of that toy! Can’t wait to get it and see how it goes over! Thanks for stopping by and for your recommendation it’s always good to hear other pet owners’ views!

  • Rob S. says:

I don’t own a dog but my sister has two and she loves her dogs!

These are some really neat gifts for her dogs. I didn’t even know some of these existed!Pet products have sure come a long way.

My sister treats her dogs better than her kids! She would definitely be interested in some of these gifts.

I just spoke to her on the phone and she wants me to forward this to her because when I told her about the dog camera and treat tossing device, she said wow!So off I go to forward this now. I think these are very interesting for dog owners!

    • Lynne says:

Hi Rob,  Dogs really are a wonderful part of the family! Maui and I would be so grateful if you would forward our blog post to your sister! Maui is my service dog so she goes everywhere with me, but if I had to leave at home I know for sure I would be getting the Furbo for us! Thank you so much and hope you stop back again!

  • Anusuya says:

    Hey Lynne,

You have poured you heart felt love to your dogs and the dogs of the entire world through this review of your Christmas gift list for Dogs.

You have treated these animals like human, described so meticulously every aspect of the gift that the dog could enjoy, I am truly speechless.

I do not celebrate Christmas nor do I have dog. I enjoy the beautifully decorated season and love when I see a dog is walking with owner. They are more faithful than human as my father says (he had one), cute and care for you.

I read the entire list without closing my eyes. It was so tasteful. I like all the toys but thinking of a low priced one

KONG LOW STUFFING SQUEAKER DOG TOYS for my friend’s dog who lives by my house. You know what! the last one is really cute.

Dogs really deserve a lot as a reliable friend of human. I can clearly see your stockings for Christmas.

    • Lynne says:

Hi Anusuya, thank you so much for taking a look at our list of awesome gifts for dogs (and their owners). Dogs are definitely very loyal; Maui sticks by me all the time! It would be wonderful if you could use the link to purchase the toys for your neighbors dog 🙂 It helps fund Maui’s treat addiction 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!
